FLIGHT REVIEW

Welcome!

Pilots need a Flight Review every 24 calendar months to serve as Pilot in Command (PIC) in the U.S. under FAR Part 61.56. Remember, this is not a test or checkride. It is a team effort with a flight instructor to keep you safe, sharp, and sure in the cockpit. The review hits key flying knowledge and skills. You can shape it to match your type of flying. Back from a break or honing skills? A Flight Review keeps you current on airspace rules, steps, and smart choices.

It is important to note that if it's been a couple years since you flew, you might need a few lessons to shake off the rust.

Ground Review

A minimum of 1 hour of ground instruction (depending on experience and proficiency level at the time of the flight review), covering:

  • Part 91 regulations

  • Airspace and chart review

  • Weather interpretation

  • Risk management and ADM (aeronautical decision-making)

Flight Portion

A minimum of 1 hour of flight instruction (depending on experience and proficiency level at the time of the flight review), covering:

  • Maneuvers and procedures relevant to your certificate

  • Emphasis on safety, coordination, and control

  • Can be tailored to specific aircraft or mission type (e.g., VFR cross-country, pattern work, etc.)
